May 4th, 11 am – 2 pm: Open Bay Day to celebrate EMS week. The public is invited to tour the station and the ambulance. Uncle Pete will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers and Mike Poirier, our favorite dispatcher from the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center, will be here to show kids how to place a 911 call. We need HNFR and BEMC people to demonstrate rescue equipment and EMS procedures. A blood pressure clinic run by Bowdoin EMTs has been a popular element in past community events and I need volunteers from BEMC for this. It’s an excellent chance to interact with patients and to sharpen your skill with manual BP measurements as well as the use of the LifePak.
